Dr Sergej Petrosjan

Medical practitioner with specialist training in anaesthesia and intensive care.

Dr Sergej Petrosjan graduated as a Medical Doctor at the Yerevan State Medical University, Armenia, in 1988.

He then undertook specialist training in Anaesthesia & Intensive Care in Prague, Czech Republic and was awarded a Fellowship in Anaesthesia in Czech Republic in 1997.

In the United Kingdom Dr Petrosjan undertook specialist training in Anaesthesia in the UK. He was awarded a Fellowship of Royal College of Anaesthetists (FRCA) in 2003 & completed Specialist Training in Anaesthesia in 2007 and was awarded Certificate of Specialist Training in Anaesthesia (CCST). Dring his final year of his Specialist Training Dr Petrosjan completed a Fellowship in Cardiothoracic Anaesthesia, Papworth Hospital, Cambridge, UK.

After completing his specialist training in 2008 Dr Petrosjan was appointed as a Consultant in Cardiothoracic Anaesthesia & Intensive Care at Essex Cardiothoracic Centre, UK.

In 2010 he moved to Australia & was appointed as Staff Specialist in Anaesthesia at Rockhampton Base Hospital, Qld. He was awarded a Fellowship from the Australia & New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (ANZCA) in 2011. Since 2012 he has working as locum Staff Specialist in Anaesthesia in SE Qld and at Hervey Bay Hospital, Qld.

Dr Petrosjan's training has included all sub-specialities of anaesthesia including general surgery, cardiothoracic, urology, gynaecology & obstetrics, paediatric, orthopaedics, trauma, plastics and neuro-surgery, intensive care, acute pain management and emergency/crisis management including resuscitation.

As part of his continual professional development Dr Petrosjan attends workshops, simulation sessions, congresses, reads journals and maintains ongoing clinical audits to ensure that he is up to date with his clinical knowledge and practice of anaesthesia.

Dr Petrosjan works at the Bundaberg Mater and Friendly Society Private Hospital doing anaesthesia for all types of surgery including Orthopaedic, Spinal, Opthalmic, Gynaecological, General, ENT and Dental Surgery. His non-medical interests include sailing, swimming & kitesurfing.
